Memetic
He can feel it now. At first, they seemed unrelated. Now, the dots start to connect. Forming a pattern. An ancient organization from the future, founded by an unknown identity shrouded in mystery. Their present-day front, Katekhon Industries, traced to research and development behind state-of-the-art Cognitive Technology, leading in the fields of Ontological Design, Semiotic Architecture, Eschatology Conduction, Narrative Intelligence, Cognitive Security and Memetic Engineering. Evidence collected from their operations points to a targeted cultivation of dynamic ideas into the core of civilizations, across time. Presumably with defensive intent, possibly to shield against mind viruses and memetic warfare that prevents the emergence of a Protopian future. Their main purpose remains unknown. At the heart of Katekhon Industries is the Adyton. From what he knows, a precise, real-world simulator that allows its users to visit societies in the past, present, and future. Based on research using the Adyton, dissecting civilizations on a dynamic scale and measuring their success, the organization's magnum opus is the creation of DynamicOS (DOS) — an operating system and anti(mind)virus for general intelligence. DOS has proven to be an exceptionally powerful algorithm for societies, used by the most advanced intelligences in existence. Both biological and artificial. Its creation and maintenance are seemingly based on methods for compression of dynamic ideas from their raw extracted format into replicators with balanced memetic properties, carefully packaged into narrative containers and subsequently visualized as art in timeless forms and mediums for dissemination. Previously confined to the medium of text in books and scientific papers, the best ideas in the history of ideas are now being rendered as exceptional artistic experiences across culture. Despite rigorous attempts, and unlike other mind software such as common ideologies, ancient religions, modern political affiliations, or pure logical reasoning, DOS has proven impossible to define with any precision. Constructed of a loose network of ideas, somewhat resembling an Alexandrian Pattern Language or a Deleuzian Rhizome, it imposes minimally on its holder. Instead it has mainly defensive intents. A proven advantage of this structure is precisely that it has no structure, except that everything is related to everything else and everything is in constant motion, living, evolving over time. This is clearly by design, he notes. For anything that can be easily measured can also be predicted, controlled, and exploited. Escaping precise definition instead allows its hosts to become significantly more resilient. As a byproduct, DOS has further demonstrated that history is not about endless conflict between factions of humans. Similarly, the future is not about conflict between humans and machines. Ideas, not humans, nor machines, control reality. Ideas are the constructors of the past, the present, and the future of intelligence. Intelligent entities can not escape being conduits programmed by ideas. But they can, with deliberate care and cultivation, navigate which ideas they install in themselves to be programmed by. Little else is known about the organization. Based on his extensive research and mapping their widespread activities across multiple fields, he has, however, managed to hypothesize a few plausible objectives and abstract features of Katekhon and DynamicOS. As he now stands in front of the Adyton, about to enter its inner chamber for the first time, it all flows through his mind. Still completely unaware that, all along, he had been chosen. Everything he knows is because they let him. Unknowingly, he is about to be cast into the ancient past and witness the birth of the idea behind all other ideas, beginning a journey through time and into the future. A revelation of the memetic architecture of reality itself.
